The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Today, we can no longer think the devil has no power, no control, or no influence in our lives. However, it is all limited power. We can not underestimate him. In Genesis 3:1, he was described as being crafty or cunning. I want to remind you of a few things that the devil can do.

  1. Satan can manipulate you. In 2 Corinthians 11:14 Paul said, “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” You and I must have our eyes wide open to detect his schemes.
  2. Satan can and will use people, situations, and our circumstances to TRY and defeat us. He will use anything and anybody to discourage God’s people. But you and I have God’s Word. When attacks come, Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:10-12, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Mercy is described as having compassion or leniency on someone. Psalms 103:8 says, “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” Even though God allows the devil to do many things, the main reason he can’t stop mercy is because he can’t stop Jesus! You must remember that whatever is going on in your life today, “The Devil Can’t Stop Mercy”!

“The Devil Can’t Stop Mercy” Action Plan:

  1. What control have you been giving the enemy? Are you handing him your peace? Is it making you doubt Jesus?
  2. Pray for surrender, wisdom, and strength.
  3. Read Ephesians 6.

“The Devil Can’t Stop Mercy” Prayer: Jesus, we come to you now needing you to show up on our behalf. The enemy of our souls has been beating us up with discouragement, frustration, lack of faith and trust, and brokenness. Jesus, we know that you are all powerful and there is nothing you cannot do. Show us in your word how to resist the enemy so he will flee from us. Give us godly strength to fight the enemy with our sword, the Word of God! Help us to win this battle because regardless of what we are facing on today, we are #UNDEFEATED! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
