The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

I am a huge believer in making much of Jesus, promoting Him over myself, my so-called abilities, my circumstances, or anything in this world. For anyone who may be watching this video and you are not a believer in Jesus, God’s Son; the resurrected One; the only way to God the Father. Let me tell you why He is “The Only God Like That”….Omnipotent, Eternal, Just, Gracious, Merciful, Faithful, Omniscient, Holy, Immutable, Loving, Self-Sufficient, Sovereign, Righteous, Patient, Omniscient, Wise, Glorious, and finally….He is mmm Good!!!!!

1 Corinthians 1 gives us a prime example of why we serve “The Only God Like That”. The people of Corinth were idol worshippers and living immoral lives a lot like our world today. Paul describes the Corinthians in verse 2 as “saints”; another translation calls them “his own holy people”. Because God was able to see their end, He knew they would get it right with the help of the Holy Spirit. Our living and loving God is “The Only God Like That”.

When this world tries to compare “The Only God Like That” to any other man made god or to mere humans, it falls short every time. Why do I say that? If we look at the book of Job, chapters 38-42, it is riddled with a nobody like you God picture; “The Only God Like That” kind of descriptions. God asks in Job in chapter 38 verses 4-9, “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line? What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? Who kept the sea inside its boundaries as it burst from the womb, and as I clothed it with clouds and wrapped it in thick darkness?” Could it be “The Only God Like That”? What about this in Job 39:26 and 27, “Is it your wisdom that makes the hawk soar and spread its wings toward the south? Is it at your command that the eagle rises to the heights to make its nest?” Yall, like every other man, we too have been at fault when we think we know more than God. Job finally sees “The Only God Like That” and he says in Job 42:5, “I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.”

I thank God today that the one and only true God calls you and me not as our past or our present, but He sees the end result you. Oh, that’s something to shout about——I might not have it all together today but thank God we serve “The Only God Like That” who sees our end result!!!!
