The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

When you and I watch TV, we will turn the channel until we find what we like or what we want to watch. Even if we watch a show that we know has no value to us and is a time waster, we will sit there and watch it. Before today, you or someone you know has been watching the channel “I’m too weak”.  Before today, you may have been on channel “Life is too hard”. Before today, your issues may have you stuck on channel “I don’t want to tell myself no”. However, it is time to “Turn the Channel” because today is a new day.

If you are binge watching “Worried about Everything” series on Netflix, turn the channel. On channel 1 Peter 5:7, it says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

Change the channel if you are watching the “Lack of Faith” drama on Amazon Prime. On channel Romans 10:17 you will find, “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.”

If you are watching the soap opera “The Young and I Just Can’t Get Any Rest”, turn the channel. Staring Jesus of Christ of Nazareth, channel John 14:27 says, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

You should change the channel if Dr. Phil’s topic for the day is “I want to trust you Lord, BUT…” One of the longest-lasting channels is Proverbs 3:5. It reminds us, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.”

Our experiences and life in general will have us harping and focusing on our issues, hang-ups, and habits. Remember that the definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing repeatedly but expecting a different result. The choice must be made by both you and me to quit viewing “insanity” channels and change the channel to God’s Word and remain there.
