Because we live in this world, some of us seek the things of this world. When we seek the things of this world and neglect Christ, we are seeking Satan and his ways. We may be seeking worldly happiness or security from our jobs, a husband or wife, money or status. For some reason, we seek things thinking unfortunately that they will heal our broken hearts, make us whole or give us peace. Keep in mind that all these earthly things will indeed pass away one day.
But, this is what you have in Christ:
- First, you have a redeemer. Ephesians 1:7 says, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
- Next, you have a rock. In Psalm 18:2, it is written “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
- Lastly, you have victory only through Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:14 describes how God always causes us to triumph in Christ.
When we seek the things of this world over living for Christ, we are choosing Satan with his fake, deceiving possessions. Let’s choose the straight and narrow path that leads to life who is Jesus Christ.
