The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Your story is your life. All that will remain of you after death is your story. In Genesis 19 verses 12, 14 and 17, two angels told Lot to leave Sodom. They specifically said in verse 12, “Get them out of this place—your sons-in-law, sons, daughters, or anyone else.” Then again in verse 14, “Quick, get out of the city! The LORD is about to destroy it.” And finally in verse 17, “Run for your lives! And don’t look back or stop anywhere in the valley! Escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away!” Unfortunately, in verse 26 we read, “But Lot’s wife looked back as she was following behind him, and she turned into a pillar of salt.” That was her story-disobedience.

In Acts chapter 8 verse 3, we read about a man named Saul of Tarsus. He was a Jew. He caused havoc on the Church, placing God’s people in prison, and even killing them. You would think that this was Saul’s story. After Jesus met and confronted him, Saul’s life was changed. God had a purpose and plan for him to reach and teach the Gentiles. His Greek or Gentile name was Paul, and he became a living testimony about the saving power of Jesus. He said in 2 Timothy 4:6-8, “For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” A redemptive life lived for Jesus. Now, that was Paul’s story!

On today, you must ask yourself, “What will be my story?” Will my story be one that the world will boast and brag about…. your intellect, your contributions to society, your possessions, your family name, or your goodness as a person? Or will your story be one that speaks only of Jesus Christ, the hope of glory? Now, that should be your story.
