The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Each of us has issues. We have struggles. We have sins. As believers in Christ, you and I should not be the same person as when we first became a believer. So, the question on the floor is “When Does It Stop?”

“When Does It Stop?” and we don’t mature. The Word of God is clear on this subject. Let’s see there’s 1 Peter 2:1-2 that says to get rid of evil behavior, malice, deceit, hypocrisy, and slander so that we can grow in salvation. Then there’s 2 Peter 3:18 that commands us to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. And we can’t forget about Ephesians 4:14-15 that reminds us not to be tossed and blown about with every wind of new teaching and to GROW in Christ. Yall, this list goes on and on.

“When Does It Stop?” and we no longer deny ourselves of our way and our will. We are aware of Luke 9:23 about denying ourselves. But I want us to drill in closer to what Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:14 and 15. It says, “Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.”

“When Does It Stop?” and we continue to make excuses for our sinful behavior. You know someone who always says, “The Lord is still working on me”. Well, if we’re honest the Lord has been working on your nasty mouth for 20 years so who is the problem…you or Jesus? What about fornication? Did you know that Pew Research conducted a survey in 2020 that says half of professing Christians engage in fornication? Being transparent, I used to be in that number. However, if I can testify, it stopped for me when I got sick and tired of sinning, repenting, being fed up, crying, messing up, and falling short. Yall, I tried it my way and it doesn’t work!

So, what is your answer? You know you. God sees what your issues and struggles are. “When Does It Stop?” I’ll tell you that your IT in your life will stop when you have been broken and then you will withhold nothing from Jesus!!!
