A spiritual storm occurs when you are faced with a situation that causes a disruption between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. Examples of a spiritual storm can be a lack of peace, a decrease in your trust in Jesus, confusion, anxiety, a lack of joy, and/or pain and suffering. Many times, if not every time, you and I will react negativity when we encounter storms. Today, I want to encourage you what to do “When You’re in the Storm”.
“When You’re in the Storm” listen to the Spirit. This will take intentionality, preparation, and discipline. These Christian characteristics take place before a storm approaches. The last part of Romans 8:6 simply says, “…. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” Have you practiced allowing the Spirit to control your mind when there is sun shining in your life? Galatians 5:25 further encourages us by saying, “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” In order for us to be #undefeated, you and I must be prepared for the storm.
“When You’re in the Storm” let the peace of God rule you! Just recently, I experienced this. There was a change of plans on my job. I’ll admit that I was very agitated, and my peace was disturbed. About 30 minutes later, I was still grumbling about it the Lord. Then the Spirit sweetly said to me, “Let my peace rule you!” Wow! I began to worship Jesus for the Comforter! Colossians 3:15 reminds us, “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”
The only way for you and me to weather the storms of our lives is to be covered up and wrapped tightly in Jesus and His word!
“When You’re in the Storm” Prayer:
Most Gracious, Heavenly, Father, I praise you, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Lord, for once again showing me your grace in my times of trials. Thank you for speaking to me. I thank you that your word has never failed me. You are truly my helper. Help me to grow stronger and more knowledgeable in your word and in your way. Help me to gear up for the battle. Anoint my ears that I will be able to hear what the Spirit is trying to say to me. Touch my tongue that I will not speak anything that does not give you glory. Lord, I want to honor you with my life especially when I’m in a storm. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Action Plan: (Choose 1 or do both)
1. Read Romans 8. Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.
2. Read Colossians 3. Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.
