When you and I recognize the fact that we, fallen without hope humans, are nothing on our own we can soon understand our profound need for Jesus. You see, without Jesus, we would be lost in sin, separated from God and without hope. Romans 3:23 reminds us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Paul reminds us here of our need for a Savior. Yes, our Savior’s name is Jesus and, in His love, took our place on the cross, offering redemption and reconciliation with the Father. As John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’” There is no other way to God but by Jesus. Our lives are transformed by His grace, allowing us to walk in freedom and purpose.
Being sold out for Jesus means fully committing our lives to Him, prioritizing His will above everything. In Philippians 1:21, Paul says, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain,” illustrating that our identity and purpose are found in Christ alone. A sold-out life embraces Jesus’ mission, sharing His love and truth with the world.
In a world filled with turmoil, the one who places their faith and hope in Jesus will find our peace in Him. Jesus promises in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.” This peace guards our hearts and minds, especially in restless, fearful times. It is through His love that we can genuinely love others according to 1 John 4:19. (“We love, because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19) Ultimately, where would I be without Jesus providing me with a sound mind? In 2 Timothy 1:7, we learn, “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.” Our sound mind in Christ empowers us to face challenges confidently, all the while being rooted in His truth and love.
When you and I embrace and acknowledge our dependence on Jesus, we discover not only our identity but also the strength and purpose that come from being fully surrendered to Him.
