The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

I once knew two people who seemed to be on the same path. They both went to church, both said they believed in God, and both knew how to say all the right things. But over time, something became clear—one was growing spiritually, bearing fruit, and becoming more like Christ, while the other remained unchanged, going through the motions but never truly surrendering.

Jesus talked about this exact difference in Matthew 3:12, “His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire.” The wheat represents true believers—those who genuinely follow Jesus and bear fruit. The chaff, on the other hand, represents those who may appear religious but have no real relationship with Christ. When the final harvest comes, the wheat will be gathered into God’s kingdom, but the chaff will be burned away.

So, I have to ask… Who are you? Are you wheat—growing in faith, following Christ, and bearing fruit? Or are you chaff—just blending in, looking the part, but spiritually dead and empty? This isn’t about perfection—it’s about position. Are you truly in Christ, and is He in you? Or are you just a passing acquaintance?

Our Encouraging Takeaway: Eternity is coming—make sure you’re wheat, not chaff.
