How many of you have had a pity-party? A “pity-party” is when you are down on yourself, your situation and you are negative about everything. When you are in this state of mind, it is a trick of Satan to sift you, doubt your faith in God and doubt what God can do for you. When your situation looks gloomy and you are feeling discouraged, you must stand on the word of God. Isaiah 40:31 encourages us with, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Then in Psalms 84:11, David declared, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield. The Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” So when Satan tries to defeat you in your mind immediately declare the word of God.
When your eyes say no, the Spirit of God says in Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” What do you do when your situations have you beat-down and what you see says no, there is no way? You turn to the word of God! Jesus says in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible but with God all things are possible.”
Lastly, you must allow Jesus and the Holy Spirit to transform your mind. Your way of thinking must shift from earthly to spiritual. You must declare and expect the excellency of God to be performed in your life. Stay in line with the word of God and not what you see.
Search myself and go deeper: What am I allowing in my life to discourage me? Why have I taken my eyes off Jesus? What does the word of God say about my current situation? Read those scriptures and pray for the Spirit to give insight, strength and to help any unbelief.
