We must first examine the root word for wisdom to comprehend it. The word “Wise” is biblically defined as properly having knowledge; hence, having the power of discerning and judging correctly, or of discriminating between what is true and what is false; between what is fit and proper, and what is improper. We need wisdom to get through each day. Wisdom to live holy lives. Wisdom in making decisions. Wisdom when we interact with people. The question on the floor is, “Do you have the wisdom to pivot?”
“Wisdom to Pivot” means if I need help, I will ask God. We are pivoting or shifting from us to God, from our human assistance to godly intervention. James 1:5 says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”
“Wisdom to Pivot” also means I will wait on God for His direction. Our lives will not be picture perfect. As life happens and obstacles occur, we need God to lead us. But how can we discern a shift in our lives if we do not read His Word, spend time with Him, pray, and pay attention to what He is saying? Proverbs 2:6 reminds us. “For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” God has what we need and it’s all in His Word!
Finally, “Wisdom to Pivot” means I will obey God. 1 John 2:3-5 says, “And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, ‘I know God,’ but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him.”
Some people have a predefined idea about how their life will go. It bothers some of us if we must pivot. Change is not always a bad thing. Change could mean that God is preparing you for something else, for something greater. Or could God be molding you into the image of Jesus by working on your patience, maybe your trust, or even your attitude? At every stage of your life, pray to God for the “Wisdom to Pivot“.
