So many times, as believers we focus on the wrong things. We look at what people are doing. We focus on the economy. We marvel and desire at the world’s way of operating. But on today, God says “You Do Your Part”!
“You Do Your Part” and submit. Submission has received a bad reputation. When it is in the right hands, it can be trusted. Philippians 2:5-8 demonstrates how Jesus humbled himself. It says, “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God, and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”
“You Do Your Part” and seek. If we are honest, we seek after a lot of foolishness! We seek possessions and people who do not have an eternal value. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:33 about seeking what is real and eternal. He says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” And then I love how David reminds us about seeking in Psalm 34:10. He said, “The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.”
“You Do Your Part” and draw near. Imagine how close you can get to Jesus. Think about the wonderful assurance of His presence. James 4:8 reminds us, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” Then David confirms in Psalm 145:18 this promise when we draw close to God. It says, “The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.”
“You Do Your Part” and trust Jesus. God’s word is full of His faithfulness to His people. God has a proven track record of trust! In Isaiah 26:3-4, we are reminded that God will keep us in perfect peace! Why?! Because we trust in Him! My favorite trust scripture that the Spirit reminds me of daily is in Proverbs 3:5-6. It proclaims, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
If you and I will do our part in our relationship with Jesus, you can trust that He will keep His word to us!

Examine your life. What are you NOT doing? Why not?
Let’s pray…. Most Gracious Heavenly Father, I come to you thanking you for this thought! I thank you that you have revealed to me that I have the tendency to get caught up and focused on other things when I need to focus on being OBEDIENT! Lord, help me today to not only be a hearer of your word but also a doer (James 1:22-25). Lord, allow your Holy Spirit to teach me how to focus on you and your word. Increase my faith so that I can trust what you have said in your word. Guide me so I don’t get bent out of shape when it appears you are not working. Jesus, mold me into a doer of your word! In your name! Amen.
