The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

We all have been in situations where we needed and wanted God to move and nothing happened. Recently, it happened to me and I did not realize it then, but the Lord was teaching me about patience. His will was for me to trust him despite what I can or cannot see. When I really made it up in my mind to actually trust God, it was revealed to me what I didn’t see back then. So, your delay is for the furthering of your faith.

The children of Israel are good examples of this thought because they wandered in the wilderness for their lack of faith, lack of trust, and disobedience. The Lord warned them about forgetting him in Deuteronomy 8:11 when he said, “Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.” Their delay was for the furthering of their faith.

When you are faced with a situation and you can’t see how God is going to move in your life, think about Hebrews 10:23 that says, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” One thing that moves God is your obedience. It gives Him the opportunity to release His promises to us. Because God is Holy, he can only release what he has for us when we have moved in accordance and in obedience to His will. So your delay is for the furthering of your faith.

Lastly, in this life, you will have difficult situations. There will be times when you may not know what to do, what to say, or in which direction to go. In Hebrews 11:6 it says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” So don’t get discouraged, just know that your delay is for the furthering of your faith.
