A lot of times our mood is determined by our current situation. When someone upsets us, we get angry, and our entire day is messed up. If we get up late in the morning, we feel anxious, and the rest of our day is rushed. Do you realize that happiness is based on you, someone else, or your circumstances? But joy comes only by Christ Jesus. The word of God reminds us in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Today, you and I must decide if we will trust Jesus or not. Will we fight life’s battles in our own strength or with the strength of Jesus? If you are tired of settling for temporary happiness as the world gives you, I recommend you try Jesus because “Joy is Available”!
Search yourself and go deeper: What situation is stealing your joy? Are you allowing people too much control over your mood and mental state? Do you look for superficial happiness? Search yourself today. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what is lacking in your life. Be open and real with Jesus and tell Him how you feel. Then pray.
“Joy is Available” Prayer: Lord Jesus, you know us better than we know ourselves. We keep looking to this world to give us what only you can—love, joy, redemption, peace, strength, and so much more! Jesus, we realize that we have fallen short of your glory. We keep forcing things to happen in our lives. Jesus, help us! We are looking to you to give us TRUE JOY!!!! Forgive us when we look to other people and worldly possessions to fill a void in us. Lord, we choose to focus on you. You are the only one who truly satisfies the longing in us. Lord, we need you. We love you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
